MRS. ALBERT A. D'APRIX
Mrs. Ethel A. D'Aprix, 82, of 414 Aiken St., died today in Broadacres Hospital.
Born in Little Falls, she was the daughter of M.J. and Eva Bissell Avery. She had lived in Utica since 1959 and previously had lived in Tupper Lake and Syracuse.
In 1913, she was married in Atlanta, Ga., to Albert A. D'Aprix.
Prior to her retirement in 1959, Mrs. D'Aprix had been a furrier for the Addis Co. of Syracuse for 12 years.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. R.T. (Carolyn) Franklin of Owego, and a son, Arthur of Utica, formerly of Syracuse.
The funeral will be at 10 Saturday from the heintz Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Withers, pastor of Tabernacle Captist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.

    Funeral services for A. Arthur D'Aprix 52, of 1015 West St., killed Sunday night in a one car accident on Route 73 in the Town of Keene, Essex County, will be at a time to be announced.  Mr. D'Aprix was born in Tampa, FL, the sone of Albert A. D'Aprix and the late Ethel Avery D'Aprix. He had been a Utica resident for the past three years. He was a former employee of Sunmount Hospital, Tupper Lake.  He was a World War II Army Veteran.  Besides his father, he leaves a sister, Mrs. R.T. (Carolyn) Franklin, Owego.  Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow. (he died July 26, 1966)

MRS. CAROLINE S. D'APRIX
    Mrs. Caroline S. D'Aprix, 86, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 11, 1942, at her home 935 Mathews, after an illness of eight weeks.   Her maiden name was Caroline Small and she was born in Cleveland, Ohio, Aug. 22, 1856, coming here as a child.  She was married 65 years ago to John W. D'Aprix, who died several years ago. She was a member of Sayre Memorial church.   Surviving are two sons, George S., Utica and Albert A., Tupper Lake; three grandchildren, George S. Jr., Utica, Arthur A., Tupper Lake and Mrs. Caroline Franklin, Aniston, Ala.

MISS HELEN DAPRIX
Miss Helen Daprix, 78, formerly of 907 Matthews, died Dec. 4, 1946 in a local hospital after a lingering illness. Miss Daprix was born in Utica Aug. 11, 1868, daughter of the late Henry and Christina Hagel Daprix.  She was a member of the First Moravian church. She leaves one brother, Charles W. Daprix, Utica; one sister, Mrs. Louise Swertfager, Brooklyn and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be private from the Kielbach Funeral Home, 321 Genesee, at 2 p.m. tomorrow with interment in the family plot, Forest Hill cemetery.

KENNETH G. D'Aprix
Kenneth G. D'Aprix, day old son of Earl M. and Irene MacArthur D'Aprix, 5 Bolton Rd, New Hartford, died Dec. 11, 1955 in the Faxton Hospital. The funeral will be today at 10 from the Keilbach and Rockwell Funeral Home, 321 Genesee St., the Rev. William B. Schmidgall, pastor of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, New Hartford, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Forest Hill cemetery.

CHARLES D'APRIX
Charles W. D'Aprix, died Jan. 10, 1951 in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph D. Sewell, 75 Prospect St., after a long illness.   Mr. D'Aprix was born in Utica July 18, 1870, son of Henry L. and Christine Hagel D'Aprix. He was educated in Utica schools and on Sept. 5, 1893, he married Miss Emma Bauer. She died May 15, 1941.  Mr. D'Aprix ran the D'Aprix Cider Mill in West Utica and for 20 years had been superintendent of the Foster Building. He retired two years ago. He was an Episcopalian.   He was a direct lineal descendant of French aristocracy. His great, great, grandfather, Duke Philip Isador D'Aprix settled in Nagold, Germany.
Mr. D'Aprix leaves two daughters, Mrs. Sewell, Utica and Mrs. Albert E. Wagstaff, Frankfort; three sons, Charles F. D'Aprix and Arthur N. D'Aprix, Utica and Earl M. D'Aprix, New Hartford; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from the Keilbach Funeral Home, 321 Genesee St. Interment will be in Forest Hill cemetery.

MRS. C.W. D'APRIX
DIES IN HER SLEEP
Mrs. Charles W. D'Aprix, 907 Mathews, died in her sleep at home early today of a heart ailment. Mrs. D'Aprix had been in poor health for the last three years.
    Emma Bauer D'Aprix was born in Utica Apr. 3, 1871, daughter of the late John C. Bauer and Eva Zitzner, and always lived here. She was educated in the local schools and was married Sept. 5, 1893, to Charles W. D'Aprix. She attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church.  Besides her husband, Mrs. D'Aprix leaves five children: Charles F., Earl M. and Arthur N. D'Aprix and Mrs.. Joseph Sewell, all of Utica and Mrs. Albert Wagstaff, Frankfort, 10 grandchildren and one brother, John C. Bauer, Utica.  The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, privately from the home and 2:15 from St. Luke's Church, where friends are invited to participate.

MRS. FREDERICK P. D'APRIX
Henrietta T. D'Aprix,of 1920 Storrs Ave., died October 15, 1987 at the Faxton Hospital. She was born in Deansboro, N.Y., the daughter of Henry and Anna Thomas and was married to Frederick P. D'Aprix February 5, 1927.  She was of the Episcopal Faith.  Surviving are her husband, one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Katherine D'Aprix, and one grandson, Thomas D'Aprix Jr., all of Utica; and several nieces and nephews.  Services will be held Saturday at the convenience of the family at the Friedel & Williams Funeral Home, Court at York Sts. Interment will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

FREDERICK P. D'APRIX
Mr. Frederick P. D'Aprix, 87 of 1920 Storrs Avenue, died Tuesday, January 26,1988 at the Faxton Hospital.  Mr. D'Aprix was born September 20,1900 in Utica, son of the late John F. and Louise Augusta Bach D'Aprix and attended Utica schools. he was married to the former Henrietta T. Thomas, February 5, 1928 (*her obit says 1927). Mrs. D'Aprix died October 15, 1987. Mr. D'Aprix was associated with his late brother, William, in the operation of the D'Aprix Brothers fuel oil business  for many years, retiring in 1968. He was a member of Our  Savior Lutheran Church. he also was a member of Utica Lodge #47 F.&A.M. Yahundasis Bodies A.A.S.R., Ziyara Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. , and a member of Ziyara Band for many years.  He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas F. and Katherine B. D'Aprix; one grandson, Thomas F. D'Aprix Jr., all of Utica; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Margaret D'Aprix, of Clinton; several nieces and nephews.  Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Friedel & Williams Funeral Home, court at York Sts. Interment will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 at the Funeral Home.  Utica Lodge #47 F.&A.M. will conduct ritualistic services Thursday evening at 8:30 at the Funeral Home.

DALE, Edward Charles

Obituary of Edward Charles DALE extracted from the Camden Advance Journal published in April 1948.
Edward DALE, Camden native, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis DALE, died suddenly Friday, April 23, in Aberdeen, Washington, where he had lived for several years, according to a telegram from his wife.  His relatives here are expecting further details shortly.  His death occured 16 months to a day from the death of a brother, Willis, who died of heart trouble in Canastota, where he lived.  Last year Mr. an Mrs. DALE of Camden motored on a cross-continental trip and visited Edward and his family after a separation of 12 years.  Edward was a salesman for a meat packing concern.  Besides his parents and wife, Bernice, he leaves a daughter, Helen, of Aberdeen, Washington, and brothers Homer and Louis of Camden and sisters Marion CLEMENTS of Kent, Ohio and Elvira WILLIAMS of Camden.  Funeral services were held Monday.  Mr. Dale was 42 years old.  Helen Dale O'Connor  3892 South 2475 West St. West Valley City, UT  84119



James A. Daniels

On Friday at 2:30pm, James A. Daniels, an old and respected resident of this place, died at his home.  Mr. Daniels has been in failing health for some years but up to within a few months had been able to be up and direct matters about his farm.  For a few days before his death it was thought he was improving somewhat but somehow he took a severe cold which soon developed into pneumonia which was the immediate cause of his death.  Mr. Daniels was a veteran of the late war and while in the service contracted a disease from which he never fully recovered.  Besides his wife he leaves three sons and three daughters, Mrs. C. W. Nettleton of Utica, Misses Addie and Leona of this place, Fred of Dallas, Tex., George of Utica and Willard of this place.  The funeral was held from his late home at 2 pm on Saturday.

Mary Tyler Daniels

McConnellsville - Mrs. Mary J. Daniels, aged 74 years, died at her home about midnight yesterday after a long and painful illness.  She had been confined to her home since September.  Mrs. Daniels was a daughter of Tracy Tyler and had always lived near where she died.  She was a consistant member of the ME Church always laboring for its welfare.  Also a member of the WFM Society of this place. To know her was to call her a friend.  She is survived by six children, Addie and Willard at home, Fred of Dallas, Texas, George and Mrs. Charles Nettleton of Utica, and Mrs. Will Hall of Dolgeville, also one
sister, Martha Tyler of Los Angeles, Cal.  The funeral will be held from her late home on Friday at 1 o'clock, Rev. Adelbert Warren of Verona officiating.

Fred R. Dauer
Fred R. Dauer, 75, 1131 Orchard St, Utica, died Dec. 21, 1950, in his home after a long illness. (this is wrong, he died in the County Home in Rome, NY).
He was born in Utica, April 18, 1875, son of the late August & Katherine Dauer. He married Christina Pfeiffer in 1900 (also wrong, married in 1902).
He was a steamfitter and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He leaves a wife, a daughter, Mrs. Armand Mooth; two sons, William & Gustave Dauer; a brother William; a sister, Mrs. George Schaub; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews, all of Utica.
The funeral will be private and will be held Saturday morning from the Keilbach Funeral Home, 321 Genesee St. Interment will be made in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Gustave K. Dauer
Gustave K. Dauer, 71 of Broadacres Nursing Facility, formerly of Wiley St., Utica, passed away Thursday evening, July 15, 1982 at Broadacres after a long illness.
He was born in Utica, NY October 22, 1910, son of the late Frederick and Christina Pfeiffer Dauer. He was raised in Utica and educated in Utica schools. For many years Mr. Dauer was a toolmaker for the Bossert Corporation, retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Joseph-St. Patrick’s Church.
Mr. Dauer is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gayland (Carol) Michaud of Plainville, CT. Also surviving are three grandchildren; one niece and several cousins.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of the Resurrection Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph-St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
There are no calling hours. Arrangements in care of the Heintz Funeral Home, Utica.

Davis, Barton L.
The following information was gathered from the Saturday Globe Newspaper, dated August 3, 1895
Barton L. DAVIS, a gentleman well known throughout the central part of the state, died suddenly at Sherburne, Sunday.  Death was due to apoplexy, with which, Mr. Davis had been troubled before.  Barton L. Davis was born at Hanover Green, near Waterville, 56 years ago.  His youth was spent in that vicinity, and in 1870 he came to Utica where he got a business position with T. R. Thomas.  Ten years ago he moved to New Hartford where he continued to live till last May, when he again came to Utica.
Mr. Davis was employed as traveler for a New York fruit house and was well known in that capacity.  He was highly successful and made friends wherever he went.  He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Minnie E. Davis of Utica, two sons, Henry B. Davis of Minneapolis and W. E. Davis;  four sisters, Mrs. James King, of North Bridgewater, Mrs. C. H. Wodruff of New Haven, Conn., Mrs. Loren Clark, of Albion, Wis., and Miss Libbie Davis of Utica, and one brother, Charles K. Davis of Rochester.


John Dean

Taberg, July 12, :  John Dean, well known resident of this place was found dead in bed Sunday morning at 6 o'clock when his wife called him.  His son, Arthur, 12, in bed beside him, was sleeping soundly, unaware that his father had passed away.  Mr. Dean was in his usual good health on Saturday and after working all day milked two cows and hoed in the field.  Mrs. Dean had been caring for her daughter, Mrs. Rexford Small, during the night who was ill in a downstairs room.  When she received no response in the morning she investigated and found her husband's lifeless form.  John Dean was born in the town of Annsville, son of the late Sanford and Alice Converse Dean.  He was an accomplished cornetist and was for 15 years leader of the Taberg Cornet Band. He operated a farm for many years, but for several years had operated the steam roller for the town Highway Department.  In 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Lillian May Crossman, who survives.  Besides his wife he leaves four children, Arthur and Harold at home, Mrs. Lester Infanger of Rome and Mrs. Rexford Small of Blossvale and two grandchildren, one brother, Frank, of Mcconnellsville and a sister, Mrs. Grace Brewster of Rome.

DENNISS, George
After A Short Illness George Denniss, Well Know Resident of Corn Hill, Passes Away.
     George Denniss, one of the best known residents of this city, passed away at his home, 82 Seymour Avenue, Thurdsay noon, following a short illness with pneumonia.  The news of his death was learned with much sadness by his large number of friends and acquaintances.  He was a genial gentleman and a sterling citizen and his passing is deeply regretted.
     Mr. Denniss was born in Ashfort, Kent, Eng., August 10 1848, the son of George and Margaret Lilly Denniss.  About 43 years ago he came to this country and after a short residence in Chicago, came to Utica, where he has since resided.  For many years he was an agent for the Prudential Life Insurance Company and in this connection he gained the friendship and confidence of many people.  For the last few years he was employed at the Railroad Y.M.C.A.  Mr. Denniss was a faithful member of Calvary Episcopal Church and was very devout in his religious duties.  He was also a member of Skenandoah Lodge, No. 95, I.O.O.F., and of Steuben Encampment.  He was a past district deputy of Skenandoah Lodge.  In politics he was a Republican, but never aspired or held office.
     At the age of 22 he married Mary E. Bourne, who died shortly afterwards.  Later he married her sister, Jennie (Jane) Bourne, of Utica, who survives.  Mr. Denniss also leaves two daughters, Mrs. George Mead, of Peekskill, and Mrs. M.R. Kelly of Syracuse; one son, Harry G. Denniss; two sisters in England and several nephews and nieces, among whom are George M. and William Denniss, of this city.
The obituary was not dated, but I believe George died about 1913.

DENNISS, Jennie
 Mrs. Denniss Dies at 92 in Peekskill
 Mrs. Jennie Denniss, 92, formerly of Utica and wife of the late George Denniss, died Aug. 15, 1947 at the home of her daughter, Mr. George. L. Mead, Peekskill, after an illness of two months.  Born in Folkstone, England ( I believe this is an error and she was born in Appledore, Eng.)  on Dec. 7, 1855, she was the daughter of the late Adolphus and Susan (Shoesmith) Bourne.  She came to Utica in 1880 and in 1885was married to George Denniss by the Rev. Dana Bigelow in Sayre Memorial Church.  Her husband died several years ago.  For a number of years she was  member of Calvary Episcopal Church and its societies and was a past noble grand of Utica Rebekah Lodge.  Mrs. Denniss left Utica in 1921 and has resided with her daughter in Peekskill ever since.  She leaves another daughter, Mrs. William L. Dean, Tujunga, Calif.; one son, Harry G. Denniss, Utica; six grand children, four great grand children and several nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Williams Funeral Home, 1115 West.  Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

KATHERINE DONAHUE - SATURDAY EVENING POST -SEPTEMBER 5, 1908
Mrs. Katherine Donahue, widow of John H. Donahue, passed away Tuesday evening at her home, 234 Elizabeth Street. She had been in poor health for the past four years. Mrs. Donahue was born in County Waterford, Ireland March 12, 1851 and came to this country with her parents as the age of 5. She had lived successively in Clayville, Oriskany Falls and Waterville and had been a resident of this city for the past 13 years. Mrs. Donahue was a kindly, Christian woman deeply beloved by all who knew her and her death is genuinely mourned. Three daughters and three sons survive as follows: Mrs. A. M. Pratt, of Utica, Mrs. R. E. Anderson, of New York, Mrs. A. B. Coleman of Schenectady, William, Edward and Harry all of this city. There are also five grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Dempster of this city.

   Floyd, Oct. 13 -- At her home in this town on Sunday evening occured the death of Mrs. Asa Draper, nee Webb.  She had been ill for some time with liver complaint, and jaundice caused her death. she was born in the town of Trenton about 60 years ago. Forty two years ago she married Asa Draper of the town of Floyd. Six children were born to them, Philander of Boonville, Nellie, George, and Frederick of Pallistelle, Mont., Mrs. Charles Van Schoick of Rome and Mary, who lived at home.  Besides her husband and children, she is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mr. Helen Clark, Trenton; George Webb, Holland Patent; John, Charles, and Frances,
Iowa; and Frederick of Pallistelle, Mont. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Holland Patent.

Mrs. Durgee Dies At 100; 63 Survivors
CAMDEN-- Mrs. Barbara A. Durgee, 100, died yesterday at the Edgewater Nursing Home in New Hartford. Born in Wurttemberg, Germany, on Sept. 22, 1867, she was the daughter of John M. and Christina Boehm Snyder. She came to this country in 1870 and attended Camdem schools.
She was married to James Hamilton Durgeein 1894 at Camden. The couple operated the Durgee farm in Hillsboro for many years. Mr. Durgee died in 1937.
Mrs. Durgee was a member of the Old Congregational Church of Camden and attended the Hillsboro Baptist Church. She was a member of the Hillsboro Ladies Aid Society and the Hillsboro Garden Club.
Surviving are two sons, John S. of Utica and J. Edmund Durgee of Camden; three daughters, Miss Christine R. Durgee and Mrs. M. Fiske (Jane)Wilkinson, both of Utica, and Mrs. Earl (Clara) Willis of Bernhards Bay; one brother, Andrew Snyder of Camden; 15 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.

Mrs Fred Duvelow is Laid At Rest
Death Occured at Her Home Here Wednesday, April 1, Was a Life Long Resident of Boonville
  The Funeral of Mrs Fred Duvelow of this village was held from her late home on Feeder St, Saturday afternoon, the Rev C.G. Roop officiating. The bearers were Lloyd Meyers, Elroy Olmstead, Atrhur Bubois and Claude Dickup. A number of beautiful floral tributes attested to the high esteem in which she was held by relatives and friends. Interment was in the Boonville Cemetery.
  The death of Mrs Duvelow occured Wednesday at 5:am following a long and lingering illness. Despite the fact, she bore her suffering with great fortitude and strength. Death was due to cancer. Cora Quackenbush was born in 1871 in Forestport, the daughter of (Timothy) Edward and Marion Quackenbush. When a small child her parents moved to Boonville where she had since made her home. She was a member of the Methodist church.
  She is survived by her husband, one son, Fred of Boonville, two daughters, Mrs Daniel Talcott, Boonville and Mrs Grace Montgomery, Carthage, her mother, Mrs Wm Pardy of Herkimer, one sister, Mrs Frank Fuller of Poland, two half sisters and three half brothers, also three grandchhildren.

F.J. Duvelow Dies at 85 in Boonville
Boonville Herald BOONVILLE-Frederick J Duvelow, 85, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs Daniel Talcott, Feeder St. He had been in failing health for several years.
The son of John and Mary Olhm Duvelow, he was born in Boonville, June 24, 1873 and received his education in the Boonville schools.
His wife, the fomer Cora Quackenbush, whom he married in Boonville, died in 1925.
Mr Duvelow had spent his entire life in this village. He was employed for more than 50 years in the grain and feed business, working first for the AH Barber Feed and Grain Co., and later for the AC Capron Feed and Grain Firm. Following his retirement from this work, he was employed for some time by the State Dept of Canals as a bank watchman.
Mr Duvelow was a member of the Boonville Methodist Church and of the Boonville Fire Dept, serving as chief for some time. Several years ago he was awarded the title of honorary fire chief, and received a permanent membership in the dept.
He leaves two daughters, Mrs Talcott, and Mrs James Montgomery, Carthage; one son, Frederick, Dunkirk; six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Harry Duvelow in Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at the Trainor Funeral Home, Boonville, with the Rev Alton A Parker, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Boonville Cemetary.
Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Members of the Boonville Fire Dpet will call at the funeral home on Monday evening at 7:30.

Patrick Dwyer, long a resident of East Utica died at 7:30 o'clock yesterday morning, August 26, 1917, at his home, 407 Buffalo Street where he lived for the last 23 years. Mr. Dwyer had been in failing health since January, but the end came rather unexpectedly. Death was due to heart failure.
Mr. Dwyer was born in County Wexford, Ireland, March 17, 1846, a son of John and Mary Dwyer. He came to this country about 48 years ago. He spent some years at Taberg and for 20 years made his home in Clinton. The last 27 years of his life had been spent in Utica. Mr. Dwyer was employed at the Savage Arms plant for 12 years, until failing health compelled him to retire from active work. He was a faithful member of St. Agnes Church.
July 28, 1851 he was married in Rome to Miss Ellen Bennett of Taberg, who survives with five sons, Thomas E., and John P. of Utica, Martin J. of Cincinatti, Ohio, Patrick F. of Camden and William H. of Rome; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Reddick of Ilion, Miss Nellie M. Dwyer, Miss Katherine E. Dwyer and Mrs. Florence W. Doherty of this city. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and one sister,Mrs. Margaret Lodge of Clinton. Mr. Dwyer was an honest and upright citizen, sober and industrious, and his death will be sincerely morned by a host of friends who had come to regard him with warm esteem.

William H. Dingman

At the home of his daughter, Mrs. George A. Stedman, Verona, at 2:30 o'clock this (Tuesday) morning occurred the death of William H. Dingman, one of the oldest and best known residents of the town of Lee, where he had lived and where he was one of the prosperous and successful farmers.  He had been staying at the home of his daughter for some weeks and was taken with a severe cold about a week ago which developed into pneumonia.  He was confined to his bed but a few days.  Mr. Dingman was born in the town of Lee June 29, 1826, the son of Cornelius and Philema Dingman.  For 29 years he was the sexton of the Evergreen at Stokes, across from the entrance of which he lived.  He is survived by three children, Mrs. Emmett A. Young, 316 W. Embargo Street, this city, Mrs. George A. Stedman of Verona, and C. W. Dingman of Chicago.  The funeral will be held at Stokes tomorrow morning and interment will be made in the cemetery.

Charles William Dingman

Charles William Dingman, 414 N. George Street, highly esteemed resident of this city, passed away about 1 o'clock Monday evening in Boston, Mass.  Mr. Dingman was born Sept. 4, 1854, in Stokes, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Dingman.  He spent his early life in Rome and in 1879 went to Chicago, Ill., where he resided until a few years ago.  He was associated with Armour & Co. in Chicago and was one of the organizers of the Armour Grain Company.  Until his retirement in 1920 he was secretary and treasurer as well as a director of this company.  He was a director of the National Guaranty Fire Insurance Company of Newark, NJ.  He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist, of Rome.  Mr. Dingman was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Frances Sautter of Chicago who survives.  He also leaves one daughter, Edna D. Bacon, wife of
Harlow E. Bacon, and one sister, Mrs. Adele F. Young all of this city.

Cornelius Dingman

Utica - Cornelius Darling of 292 Brinckerhoff avenue died on Saturday morning at his home, after an illness of three years duration.  He was born in Lee, this county, 60 years ago and during the past 25 years had made Utica his home.  He was a carpenter and contractor until his illness caused him to retire.  He attended the Baptist Church and was respected by all who knew him.  Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Miss Beulah Darling, and his mother, Mrs. Catherine Williams of Utica, and four brothers, Clinton, John and Squire of Lewis county, Frederick of Utica and Charles Darling of Whitesboro.

George C. Darling

West Leyden - This whole community was shocked and saddened when it was learned that George C. Darling had passed away very suddenly at his home near Swancott's Mills this morning at 3:30.  Mr. Darling had not been in the best of health for some time but his condition was not regarded as serious, and he had been doing his work about the farm as usual.  The day before he had been at work in the hayfield and retired that evening in his usual health.  About 3:30 in the morning Mrs. Darling was aroused and noticed that her husband was ill.  He gasped and passed away immediatley.      George C. Darling was born Sept. 23, 1853, in the town of Lee.  He was twicemarried.  His first wife was Miss Sarah Webb who died in March, 1900.  Fifteen years ago he was united in marriage with Mrs. Frances Abbott, who survives.  Mr. Darling was a life long resident of the town of Lewis and was held in the highest respect.  He was strictly honest in his business affairs.  His manly integrity and genial pleasing manner made him many friends and he will be long held in remembrance.  Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George Hitchcock of Rome, Mrs. Edward Parsons and Mrs. Louis Parson of West Leyden, two sons, Ferdinand of Buffalo and Clinton of Bartlett, one step-daughter, Mrs. Charles Fox of Lee Center, three stepsons, Fred Watkins
of Vernon, William Abbott of Rome and Henry Abbott, West Leyden; four brothers, Squire Darling of Osceola, Charles of Whitesboro, Fred of Utica and John of Lee Center.  There also are 24 grandchildren.  One son, Edward, was accidently killed last August near Glenfield, NY while on his way to Lowville to be examined for the first draft.
