DEATH OF JOHN YERDON
A Respected Citizen of Boonville Died Yesterday in His 85th Year.
John YERDON, for many years a highly esteemed resident, died at his home in the southern part of the town, near the Black River Canal, at the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 7 days.  Mr YERDON was born in Fryesbush, Montgomery county, but for may years has resided in this town.  He was a mon of strong constitution, upright in all his dealings, and leaves a good name to his decendants.  He came to Boonville before the canal was built and besides being a farmer was engaged for some time in lumbering operations.  He was a man of strictest integrity and his word was as good as his bond.  He was a Republican in politics but never aspired to office.  He is survived by one son, James H. Yerdon of Steuben, and three daughters, Mrs. I. E. Jackson, Mrs. Frank Avery of Boonville, and Mrs. J. H. Wollaber of Steuben.  The funeral will be held Friday from his late residence, Rev. T. F. Jessup officiating.

YERDON, Loren J.
Loren J. YERDON, Alder Creek, Dies (Mar. 6, 1956)
Alder Creek- Loren J. YERDON, 66, died this morning in St. Luke's Hospital, Utica, where he had been a patient for 10 days.  The son of James and Alice WOLLABER YERDON, he was born in North Steuben, June 5, 1889, and on Sept. 22, 1915, in Boonville, he married the former Lila RITTER.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. E. J. Lavis.
In his younger life, Mr. YERDON was engaged in farming and later worked as a carpenter and builder.  For the past few years he had been employed at the Boonville Furniture Co.
He has served as justice of the peace in the Town of Steuben for several years, and for many years was a member of the Boonville Band.  A baseball enthusiast, he was also a member of local ball teams in his younger life.
Mr. YERDON attended the Methodist Church and was a former member of the Alder Creek Grange and the Moose Lodge.
He leaves his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph SZYIKOWSKI, Westernville; four grandchildren; one aunt, Mrs. Carrie FULMER, Boonville, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton A. Parker, pastor of the Boonville Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Boonville Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience.
