Carmelo was born September 21, 1879 in Sciara, Palermo, Sicily, Italy son of Francesco Valvo and Francesca DiPasquale. He emigrated to USA on The Sicilia ship March 30, 1905 going to Rome, NY to his uncle Giovanni LaMonica. On September 28, 1902 in Sciara, Palermo, Sicily, Italy, he married Lorenza Minuto. He died in 1954 in Rome.

Lorenza Minuto was born February 24, 1883 in Sciara, Palermo, Sicily, Italy, the daughter of Antonino Minuto and Anna Giambrone. She first emigrated to USA on The Tartar Prince ship January 25, 1900 going to Lawrence, Mass to her aunt Maria Pagluise. On August 01, 1905 aboard The Konigen Luise ship, she came back to USA going to Rome to husband Carmelo Valvo. She came with their daughter Francesca who died at sea July 26, 1905. She died in 1948 in Rome.
