New Hartford

The town of New Hartford was erected from the town of Whitestown on
April 12, 1827.  It was settled by Jedediah  Sanger who arrived in March of 1788
having purchased 1000 acres of land.  Many families soon followed which included
Ashbel Beach, Amos Ives, Soloman Blodget, Salmon Butler, Joel Blair,
Joseph Higbee, Nathan Seward and John French.
