Westmoreland

The town of Westmoreland lies south of the center of Oneida County
and was set off from the town of Whitestown on April 10, 1792.
James Dean was the first settler in the year 1784.  He was followed
by his brother Jonathan, and Silas Phelps and his family.  In Janaury 1787,
Ephraim Blackmer and Nehemiah Jones removed to the town
from Berkshire County, Massachusetts.  Soon after arrived
Joseph Jones, Joseph Blackmer Jr., Samuel Laird and Pelatiah Rawson.
