Will of Thomas
Hammond, Oneida County, N. Y., Volume 1 at 359:
In the Name of God amen. I Thomas Hammond
of Paris in the County of Oneida and State of New York being weak and infirm
in body but of sound mind Do make and declare this my last will and Testament
as follows -
1st I appoint my Son Thomas Hammond Jr Sole
Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby give bequeath
and devise to my said Son Thomas Hammond Junr. all my Estate Real and personal
whatsoever and Wheresoever the same may be found -
2nd I do also further order and direct my
said Executor to pay or cause to be paid unto my two Daughters Patience
Judd and Orange Scott [Seall?] their Heirs or assigns the sum of forty
Dollars each, and also to my two Daughters Mary Peck and Sarah T. Saxton
their Heirs or Assigns the further sum of fifty Dollars each all which
several Legacies are to be paid by my said Executor out of the avails of
my real or personal Estate hereby devised within the space of one year
and ___ [sic] month after my decease -
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed
my hand the first day of March 1813

I certify the foregoing to be a true copy
of the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Hammond late of Paris in said
County decease as the same was proved before me the twenty Sixth day of
April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirteen.

Be it Remembered that on the twenty sixth
day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirteen
came before me Levenett Baldwin one of the subscribing witnesses to the
foregoing Will of Thomas Hammond and being duly sworn did depose and say
That he saw the said Thomas Hammond deceased sign & seal the said Instrument
and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and
Testament that at the time thereof he was of sound and disposing mind and
memory to his, said Levenett's best knowledge and belief and that Henry
W. Niel and Jonathan C. Metcalf together with said Levinett subscribed
the said will as witnesses thereto in the presence of the Testator. [Signed]

Will of Thomas
Hammond, Oneida County, N. Y., Volume 2 at 241 Dated 9 July 1821 -
In the name of God Amen I Thomas Hammond
of the Town of Paris in the County of Oneida & State of New York, being
through Goodness of God of sound mind and memory but week in body and feeling
that my life will soon close do make ordain and declare this my last will
andd Testament -
1st after my debts are all cancelled and
paid I give and bequeath to my two Daughters Hannah & Anne and to their
Children after them one fourth of the Farm on which I now reside to be
equally divided between them this one fourth to be located on the West
side of said farm of equal width from north to south including the [illegible
symbol] at the south west corner of said Farm
2d the residue of said Farm after the Death
of my Wife Lydia and my son Thomas who are to have their support through
life or so long as she remains my wid[ow?] then to be equally divided between
my other two sons, Samuel and Cyrus they improving the same and providing
for their mother and Brother Thomas as afforsaid. The personal propeerty
of which I may die seised, the debts being discharged to be divided between
them my two sons Samuel & Cyrus sixty-six dollars to be first paid
Cyrus then the division to be equal and in order that this may have the
full form and effect which I desire I do declare this to be my last will
and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills and do by these presents
appoint my t[w]o sons Samuel Hammond & Cyrus Hammond Executors to this
my last will and Testament -

my hand and seal this 6th day of June 1821-

Be it remembered that at Rome on the ninth
Day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty
one before me Joshua Hathaway Surrogate in & for the County of Oneida
aforsaid personally appeared Peter Selleck who being duly sworn deposeth
& saith that he saw Thomas Hammond the above testator execute the will
which the foregoing is a true copy on record & that he heard him declare
the same as & for his last will & testament & that he appeared
to be of sound mind & memory at the time thereof & that he the
said Peter with the other two subscribing witnesses Signed the Same in
presence of the Testator & in the presence of each other.
